This 1 semester I learned a lot of new ways to express my ideas and personalities through writing. If you click on this website it will show you the standards we followed and the standards that we all base out writing off of. I felt that this quarter went very well. I opened up to new ways of putting my own touch into my writing and also showing my evidence in my writing.

KC3 Final Draft
As many people know Hawaii is apart of the United States because of signatures and overthrows that happened long ago. But physically, Hawaii is surrounded by ocean. Hawaii would need to import what is needed and export what it could offer, although it cost way more to import because of the remote location... in the middle of the Pacific Ocean. Imported goods is what we buy from other states/countries and exporting is the things we sell to other states/countries. 90% of the goods in Hawaii is imported and only 15% of what is locally grown in hawaii is exported, this could be a potential problem for the state of Hawaii, although some say it is not a problem at all. With more being imported that means more money spent. Hawaii depends on the mainland for most of imported goods but also exports enough to sustain itself.
Importing too much for Hawaii could lead to bad economy. Hawaii imports just about everything they have. For example they spend $98 million to import goods from Canada alone. Most of it is spent on aircraft and fuel oil. Hawaii imports, cars, electronics, food, gas, etc. Say if something were to happen to all the places Hawaii imports from and they can no longer buy from there. Hawaii would have to pay for air fair, shipping, packaging, and for the worth of the thing they are importing. Hawaii would not be sustainable to live by itself. They would live off of some dairy, meats, and produce. With no one to buy from or no one to sell to, Hawaii would not be sustainable without its imports.
15% of Hawaii’s goods is locally grown and exported. In 2010 Hawaii only exported 48,000 cattle head. Which was a decrease ever since the year before. If Hawaii could only sell 48,000 cattle head then how could they export any of the other goods. Although Hawaii exports what most of what is made here. The two most valuable crops that are exported is sugar cane and pineapples. Along with these crops Hawaii offers many fruits and vegetable, which most of is exported. Hawaii does not really provide much for themselves. Although Hawaii only exports 15% of the crops, which results to many crops because the amount of farmers and land they use for produce.
Trade, the importing and exporting, of Hawaii is very important to the amount of money they give and make. In Hawaii there are about 200,000 jobs that help with trade. In the year 2013 Hawaii has exported $697 billion of goods, most that include produce. This $697 billion comes from the 151 other businesses outside the country that buy goods from Hawaii. In the past couple years the number of exports has increased for Hawaii. In the year 2013 there were a total 889 companies that contributed to exporting which is a 15% increase from 2003. Hawaii may have imported a lot but the amount of exports they have make up for it. Without these trades Hawaii wouldn’t have enough money and produce to sustain itself.
Hawaii imports 90% of the goods they have and 15% of what they make is exported. There has been decreases and increases of income in the terms of trade over the years, but most of the time they balance out. Importing for hawaii is more important than exporting. They may importing a lot but due to other things like Tourism, importing is not a huge issue with the amount of money Hawaii has. Hawaii relies on the mainland for most of imported goods and exports just enough to sustain itself. Hawaii may import a lot of its goods but they also export most of the goods they make themselves.

My Special Place - Querencia Final
If I had to pick one place to be my special it would be my grandparents house, located in Jamestown, Virginia. All the way across the United States. It is a 4,693.18 mile trip from here to Virginia. A total of 3 flights. The first one is 8 hours, the second one is 3 hours, and the last one is 1 hour, and that's just going, imagine coming back. Kind of far, I know, but the 14 hour flight is very worth the wait.
Every year me and my family would go visit my dad's side in Virginia. We have more than 20 relatives up there and that's not even counting the ones down here in Hawaii. When visiting it had felt as if time just stopped and that I was in this other time zone with my family. One where I wouldn't have to worry about my problems or be stressed. One where I get to let all my negativity out the door. As I walking into the door I hear my grandma cooking in the kitchen, my cousins screaming and playing in the living room, and my Aunties and Uncles talking in the dinning room. I can smell the won tons and filipino food.
My favorite time of the year to go is in Winter, when my grandma brings out her Christmas decorations and decorates the living room. It's the time of year my grandma bombards the freshly bought Christmas tree with mini Santas and snowman's. When the soft snow just covers 2 inches of the ground. And when we all sing Christmas songs while making our gingerbread cookies.
There are countless memories that I have there. From when my cousin spilled his funnel cake on me, or my first time tasting Freal's in 2009, or when we surprised my grandparents, every time we go there seems to be something that makes me want to stay there forever. When it's time to leave it feels as if I'm leaving one part of me there, which makes me want to come back every year. And when I do go back, I'm reunited with my other half; my Querencia, where the rest of my family is.

Picture Frame Paragraph
I can feel the cold ocean around me. The blinding sun is about to rise above the horizon--just the time in which my family starts setting up the tables and tents for the family get-together. I head out to the shower to go help unpack; shivering with every step. The salty taste of the ocean water still lingers in my mouth, though, it is soon to be cured by the pupu’s my mother has already prepared. Spicy ahi, edamame, peanuts; they are the beginning of the delicacy to come.
It’s only been a short period of time before I dove back into the now warm water, thanks to the sun. Looking to the shore, I can see that my cousins have arrived; most of which seek to have a great time. The water sloshes around as we unload our water guns onto each other. The smell of barbeque is like a calling us to feast on lunch. Walking back to our picnic area, I am greeted not only by the typical reggae music, but with my aunties and uncles who I haven’t seen since our last get-together. We share stories built up from the time frame that we haven’t seen each each other--the people we’ve met, the achievements we’ve made, and much more. Snap! Another picture for us remember. We begin to depart, but it is always “A hui ho’u!”; until next time.

The one place place I love being is at my grandparents house. It is a two story house with 4 rooms, 2 bathrooms, one kitchen, one garage and 2 living rooms, it is a very traditional house made a long time ago. I can't help but smile or ponder about the memories I have up there. Whether it be Winter or Summer there was always something to do or somewhere to go. My favorite time of the year to go is in Winter, when my grandma brings out her Christmas decorations and decorates the living room. We would also go to Busch Gardens (an amusement park) and ride roller coasters and walk through their "Winter Wonderland".

My Special Place
No this place is not a park or my room, nor is it school or in a foreign country. My special place is in Williamsburg, Virginia. This is when my dad's side of the family lives. When we visit we always go to an amusement park called Busch Gardens. When your in the parking lot of this amusement park, not even inside, you could hear the roller coasters roaring and the screams that fill the air. When you walk up to the entrance they have people dancing, singing, and enjoying life. The park is based off of places in Europe. From France, Scotland, Ireland, England and Germany, you could visit all of the most fascinating places in Europe in one park. In the park you hear constant laughing, you see humongous smile, and feel the excitement of dropping 100 feet straight down. The rides or food don't make it my special place but the people that I go with do. My dad's family is one of the most greatest people I have ever met in the whole entire world. They are always there when you need uplifting and always there when your seeking adventure and what other place is there to go to seek adventure than Busch Gardens Williamsburg.

Words From The Heart - Final Draft
The definition of "speed" is to move quickly and to move with fast pace, synonyms for speed are: hurry, rush, dash, run, race, sprint, blot, and dart. My parents started calling me that when I was in Elementary, although they don't call me that now, the meaning of this nickname has a unique and has special back story. At first, I was pretty embarrassed of the name, I used to think that it was corny because Speed is not an ordinary nickname like "boo" or "bud". Nor does it connect to some far past with my ancestors. It's a simple name my parents called me during a t-ball game or track meet.
Most people would laugh when I tell them that my parents used to call me speed, but for me it was more of an encouraging name that they used to call me. I don't usually tell people that my parents called me this because it sounded weird or unusual, because if you were to tell someone that your parents called you "speed" then they would most likely look at you like their crazy. They would only call me that when I had games or meets and surprisingly it actually helped.
When I was younger I used to play t-ball and track, both including running. I wasn't all that good at t-ball because I was shorter than most other players which technically means I was slower, same goes for track. But as I got older I started to practice running. After awhile, I was still shorter than most of the players but I eventually got better and faster. Whenever my coaches or parents called me that I look back to when I wasn't as fast and reflect on the progress I have made. When I would be running and the ball was getting to the base faster than me or people were passing me on the track, I would listen for my parents shouting my nickname. It would bring me to a place of support and love, knowing that my parents were there to help me. It was as if they were right beside me the whole time.
One time after a t-ball game that we won, I saw one of my teammates parents talking to mine, sense I was little I didn't bother to have a conversation with adults so I just ignored it. Afterwards in the car my parents told me that one of the parents was telling them how fast I was and how I ran faster than others. Because of this my coaches started calling me speedster or speed cause of my running ability. My parents then ended up calling me that too. "My son is really fast when it comes to running, one of the fastest on the team." says my Mom. My mom and dad have always been my number one supporters, especially when it comes to sports and competitions. And when they called me speed it was unique to me because no one else in the family got a weird nickname like me. My siblings nicknames were either their middle names or something that related with their original name. But my nickname related to something that I love to do, which was sports.
Speedster or speed is no longer my nickname nor do my parents still call me that because as I grew older it became a silly nickname, but it always had some weird special meaning to me. Whenever I look back to the times they used to call me this it brings me joy because it allows me to reflect to a time when I was little. It also reminds me when I would play t-ball and track and how much I used to enjoy it. I now love to run for fun or in competitions. Although I had a hard time with running before and hated it, it's now one of my favorite things to do. My parents always shouted "Speed Speed!" when I was running, so whenever I'm running from base to base or on a tack I listen for my parents voice of encouragement.

CNN Student News - Chunky Paragraph
Rumor has it that males have more leading roles in movies than women, but rumor also has it that more women go to the movies than males. According to CNN student news, "In 2014, women led 18% of the years 50 highest-grossing movies, according to a study by Boxoffice.com." (Direct Quote). I think this is very true because the top grossing movie in 2014 was Guardians of the Galaxy and the main character for that movie was Chris Pratt, a male.
Males are know to be more dominant in the entertainment business that women are. Although males get more leading roles, women allow these movies to keep going in movie theaters. Opening weekend of World War Z for example, more women showed up to the theaters than men. Not only do women play a big role in movie money making but they also help spread it over social media. (Summary)
CNN student news said that women are responsible for over 60% of messaging over social media.v Women help spread movie information from instagram to twitter, boosting up movie's box office ratings, but for some odd reason, women still don't get the leading role compared to men, but then again men don't help movie grossing at all, making it battle of the sexes. (Paraphrase)

Meet Aaron Quillopo
My name is Aaron Quillopo and this is my blog. As you can see, the title of my blog is "Writing the Unwritten". This title is to help and encourage me when writing, it tells me to not write what others write but to make my writing original and unique. I try not to write like everyone else, but to write with a purpose, to write like no other. Not only do I try to show originality through my title but also thought my whole blog. My blog does not use any of the Blogger templates. It's layout shows a little more about who I am and also shows what my skills and hobbies that I have. That way people don't have to read my essays to get to know me, they can just open my blog and scroll down.
The world I come from is like a half finished painting. In my life I know who I am but also don't know. The things I know about who I am are: that I am a people person and that I love to put my self out there. I also love to try new things and activities. One of the newest things I'm in is Colorguard, it is a real challenge for me because we have to condition and it has to deal with a lot of physical endurance. Practices some times stretch from 5 hours to 12 hours. Other things I like that include physical endurance that I like is volleyball and track. Even if I only started in 7th grade and not in a club, volleyball has always put me in a better mood than what I was in before. It has offered me more friends and it is now something that I love to do. On the other hand, track has always been a more competitive sport for me. I've been in track from elementary and have loved it ever since. The fastest I have ever ran 100m is in 9.68 seconds and the farthest I have every jumped is 12 feet (7 feet without running).
Aside from sports, I also like to read. I don't particularly have a favorite book because I've read so many. However, I do have a favorite genre and that is teen books of course. Teen books can range from books like The Fault in Our Stars to The Maze Runner. Last summer I read 21 books for fun. When I was reading those books I realized that reading gives me a chance to escape to wherever my mind takes me. Weather it's living in an apocalypse or experiencing Hazel and Augustus's love story, reading will always be a door to my imagination. Another one of my hobbies is photography. Although I don't have the best pictures, I plan to become better in the future. I am currently taking photography as one of my electives. Photography to me is capturing the moments in life that are important to you, the moments that make you look back and wish you were there all over again.
Me as a person, I am simple, but complex. Loud, but quiet. Playful, but serious. I know how to act when it is needed and when it is also not needed. When school work comes around I put lots of effort and thought into the work I do and I try my best to do them with excellence. When it comes to friends, I admire friends who know me well and who I know well too. I try not to be a "band wagoner" or a person who likes things only cause it's popular or the "in thing". I like to find upcoming songs before anyone else and if I'm lucky it doesn't become a popular song and it gets to be my own little song that only I know about. The kind of music I like are electronic bands like M83. And bands like bands like Twenty One Pilots . Occasionally I'll listen to radio music or "top charts" songs, but not very often. Most of the time I'm a care free guy with a sense of humor. I'm also the kind of person that might see everything different from everyone else. I am an Extrovert which means I am out going and I like to put myself out there, I'm not shy or timid, but broad and friendly.

You may think that I know myself and exactly who I am, but some things are still "under construction". Like what I want to be when I grow up or what college I want to go to. Although those things are far away, I would like to start planing for them now. I also don't know what my favorite movie is, why I like pickles, who dislikes me, who does like me, or who I'll end up with in life. Some of these things are way in the future and some a little weird. I may not know what life has in store for me but I'm a go with the flow kind of guy so for now, I'll just go with the flow.
